This was the highest jobless rate since last May, as the number of unemployed increased by 41 thousand to 235 thousand while the number of employed declined by 61 thousand to 2.47 million. The activity rate was down to 65.6 percent in January from 66.0 percent a year earlier, and the employment rate fell to 69.9 percent from 71.9 percent.

This was the highest jobless rate since June, as the number of unemployed increased by 48 thousand to 212 thousand while the number of employed declined by 67 thousand to 2.13 million. The activity rate was down to 65.6 percent in December from 66.2 percent a year earlier, and the employment rate fell to 70.7 percent from 73.0 percent. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate for young people aged 15 to 24 stood at 20 percent in December, which was 5.2 percentage points higher than a year earlier.

Finland's unemployment rate increased to 6.9 percent in November of 2020 from 5.9 percent in the same month the previous year, as the number of unemployed rose by 27 thousand to 187 thousand while the number of employed increased by 16 thousand to 2.21 million. The activity rate was up to 66.0 percent in November from 65.5 percent a year earlier, and the employment rate accelerated to 71.8 percent from 71.7 percent. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate for young people aged 15 to 24 stood at 16.5 percent in November, which was 4.7 percentage points higher than a year earlier.
