Exports from Hong Kong dropped 28.9% year-on-year to $348.1 billion in December 2022, the largest decrease since April 1954, amid deteriorating external environment and disruptions in cross-border land transport. Decline in sales were largely seen from electrical machinery, appliances and parts (-21.6% to $177.8 billion), telecommunications, sound recording and reproducing equipment (-44.1% to $41.7 billion), and office machines and automatic data processing machines (-39.8% to $36.5 billion). Among major destinations, exports to mainland China fell the most (-30.4%), followed by the USA (-26.7%), India (-17.7%) and Taiwan (-34.4%).
