Japan's machine tool orders shrank 10.7% yoy to 124,097 million in February 2023, taking the cumulative figures for the year to a drop of 10.2%, data from the Japan Machine Tool Builder Association showed. The decline highlighted weak demand both locall and globally, due to intense cost pressures and surging borrowing costs. Domestic demand tumbled 20.3%, the sixth straight month of decline, to JPY 38,934 million, while foreign orders fell 5.5% to JPY 85,163 million.
