Kazakhstan GDP Grows 5.1%, the Most in 6 Months
Kazakhstan’s monthly economic activity advanced by 5.1% year-on-year in December of 2022, accelerating from a 3.9% rise in the previous month. It was the strongest increase in economic activity since June of 2022, mainly boosted by construction (37.4%) and agricultural, forestry, and fishing activities (20.5%). Meanwhile, industrial production declined (-2.8%). Considering the January to December period of 2022, economic activity expanded by 3.5% over a year earlier.

Kazakhstan Monthly Growth Slows in September
Kazakhstan’s monthly economic activity advanced by 2.1 percent year-on-year in September of 2022, slowing from a 2.6 percent rise in the previous month. Growth was mainly supported by agricultural, forestry, and fishing activities (10.2 percent vs 8.9 percent in August). Meanwhile, decreases were recorded for industrial production (-1.3 percent vs 1.4 percent), construction (-2 percent vs 2.7 percent) and retail trade (-3.2 percent vs 1 percent). Considering the January-September period of 2022, economic activity rose by 3.5 percent, compared to the same period a year ago.

Kazakhstan Monthly GDP Rises the Most in 11 Months
Kazakhstan’s monthly output advanced 8.4 percent year-on-year in March of 2022, quickening from a 7.9 percent advance in February, pointing to the fastest expansion in the economy since April of 2021. Economic activity expanded largely on the back of industrial production (8.1 percent vs 6.5 percent in February) and retail trade (3.7 percent vs 0.6 percent). To a lesser extent, support also came from the primary sector (2.3 percent vs 1.7 percent); construction (9.8 percent vs 7.9 percent); while output in the communications sector rose less (9.0 percent vs 11.5 percent). On the expenditure side, fixed capital investment growth slowed sharply (0.2 percent vs 4.6 percent).
