Luxembourg Producer Inflation Hits 8-Month High
Producer prices in Luxembourg went up 1.5 percent year-on-year in February of 2021, rebounding from a downwardly revised 1.1 percent fall in the previous month. This was the highest increase in producer prices since last June, as costs rose at a faster pace for energy (3.0 percent vs 2.9 percent in January), intermediate goods (2.2 percent vs -1.2 percent), and equipment goods (0.2 percent vs 0.1 percent), while prices of consumer goods decreased at a slower pace (-0.9 percent vs -4.3 percent). On a monthly basis, producer inflation advanced to 3.4 percent from 2.5 percent in January.
Luxembourg Producer Prices Fall in January
Producer prices in Luxembourg decreased 1.7 percent year-on-year in December of 2020, following an upwardly revised 5 percent fall in the previous month. This was the sixth consecutive decrease in producer prices, as costs went down for consumer goods (-4.2 percent), intermediate goods (-1.3 percent) and energy (-2.8 percent). Equipment goods stood as the exception as their price increased by 0.3 percent. On a monthly basis, producer prices gained 1.8 percent.
Luxembourg Producer Prices Fall for the 4th Month
Luxembourg's producer prices decreased by 5.3 percent year-on-year in December 2020, following a downwardly revised 5.1 percent fall in the previous month. This was the fourth consecutive decrease in producer prices, as costs went down for all groups: consumer (-7.8 percent vs -4.9 percent in November), intermediate (-6.3 percent vs -6.9 percent), energy (-3.6 percent, same in prior month), and equipment (-0.1 percent vs -0.2 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices edged up 0.3 percent, after a 1 percent gain in the prior month. In 2020, producer prices decreased 2 percent.
