In Mexico, the Monthly Survey of Business Opinion (EMOE) measures the expectations of business executives regarding production, capacity utilization, employment and inventories, in the short, medium and long run. The survey also trials the expectations concerning the general economic environment and how it may affect business activity. The EMOE has a national coverage and it is measured on a scale of 0 to 100, where levels above 50 indicate optimism, 50 neutrality and below 50 pessimism.

It was the lowest reading since January 2022, as the current opinion about investment (41 vs 41.2) and the country's economic situation (48.5, the same as in July) was still negative. Manufacturers were also less optimistic regarding their firms’ future economic situation (57.6 from 58.4) and the country's economic outlook (52.3 vs 53.3).

Mexico's seasonally adjusted manufacturing confidence index eased to 51.2 in July of 2022 from a downwardly revised 51.7 in the prior month. It was the lowest reading since January 2022. Respondents were broadly less keen to invest (41.2 vs. 43.2 in June), while opinions regarding the economic situation of the country in the present (48.8 vs. 49.4), as well as the company's current financial condition (54.2 vs. 54.3), deteriorated. Meanwhile, sentiment improved regarding the country's future economic situation (53.5 vs. 53.4) and the company's future financial situation (58.4 vs. 57.4).
