In Mexico, the Monthly Survey of Business Opinion (EMOE) measures the expectations of business executives regarding production, capacity utilization, employment and inventories, in the short, medium and long run. The survey also trials the expectations concerning the general economic environment and how it may affect business activity. The EMOE has a national coverage and it is measured on a scale of 0 to 100, where levels above 50 indicate optimism, 50 neutrality and below 50 pessimism.

The seasonally adjusted manufacturing confidence index in Mexico eased to 52.2 in March of 2022 from a downwardly revised 52.4 in the prior month, the lowest in five months. Respondents were broadly less keen to invest (40.8 vs 44.1 in February), and, to a much lesser extent, sentiment deteriorated regarding the country's future economic situation (54.7 vs 54.9) and the company’s future financial situation (59.5 vs 59.3). On the other hand, opinions about the company’s current financial situation were more optimistic (55.4 vs 54.4), as well as regarding the economic situation of the country in the present (50.3 vs 50.1).

The seasonally adjusted manufacturing confidence index in Mexico rose to 52.6 in February of 2022 from a downwardly revised 50.9 in the prior month, which was the lowest reading in eight months. There was an improvement in the current assessment of the company's situation (54.6 vs 54.2 in January), the country's economic situation (50.5 vs 48.4) and investment (43.2 vs 38.6). At the same time, manufacturers were slightly more optimistic regarding the country's economic situation (55.2 vs 54), although prospects about the company's situation deteriorated (59.2 vs 59.6).
