The annual inflation rate in Sao Tome and Principe accelerated further to 25.2% in December 2022, up from 24.6% in the previous month. This was the highest reading since November 2008. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 1.6% in December, the least in seven months, following a 1.8% increase in the prior month, mostly on account of prices of housing & utilities (2.3%); miscellaneous goods & services (2%) and food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.9%).
