The economy of Seychelles advanced by 4.7% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2022, decelerating from a 14% rise in the previous three-month period, partly due to fading low base-year effects. Output growth slowed mostly for transport & storage (82% vs 266% in Q1); accommodation & food services (16% vs 126%); administrative & support services (48% vs 695%) and agriculture (57% vs 66%). Additionally, declines were seen in fishing activities (-27% vs -38%), real estate (-36% vs -28%), professional, scientific and technical activities (-43% vs -11%) and the manufacture of fishery products (-26% vs -22%), other food (-17% vs 8%) and beverages & tobacco (-10% vs 30%).

The economy of Seychelles advanced by 14% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2022, after stalling in the previous three-month period. It was the fourth consecutive quarter of expansion and at a solid pace, mainly driven by accommodation & food services (126% vs 1% in Q34), amid the recovery in tourism demand; transportation & storage (268% vs 75%) and information & communication (35% vs 30%). At the same time, the agricultural sector rebounded significantly (66% vs -9%). On a quarterly basis, the GDP increased by just 0.1%.
