It was the highest jobless rate since May of last year, when it stood at 4.16 percent, amid a resurgence of COVID-19 infections and the return of public health restrictions. There were 494 thousand unemployed persons (vs 444 thousand in April) and 11.414 million employed (vs 11.534 million). Meantime, the labor force participation rate edged lower to 58.93 percent, from 59.23 percent in April.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Taiwan was little changed at 3.71 percent in April of 2021, compared to 3.72 percent in March, returning to pre-pandemic levels. There were 444 thousand unemployed persons and 11.534 million employed, barely unchanged from last month. Meantime, the labor force participation rate was 59.23 percent. A year earlier, the unemployment was higher at 4.1 percent.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Taiwan inched lower to 3.72 percent in March of 2021 from 3.73 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest jobless rate since February of 2020, as the number of unemployed persons fell by 5 thousand to 445 thousand, compared to the same month in the previous year, and the number of employed rose by 6 thousand to 11.529 million. Meantime, the labor force participation rate inched higher to 59.20 percent, from 59.19 in March of 2020.
