Tajikistan Cuts Key Rates by 50 bps to 13%
The National Bank of Tajikistan slash its benchmark interest rate by 50 bps to 13.0 percent during its October meeting, the first rate cut since July 2020, and bringing borrowing costs to the lowest level since September 2021, amid slowing inflation. The country's annual inflation rate declined to 5.7 percent in September, the least since January 2019, from 6.5 percent in August. The central bank maintained its inflation forecast for 2022 at 4% to 8%.

Tajikistan Hikes Key Interest Rate by 25Bps to 13.5%
The National Bank of Tajikistan raised its benchmark interest rate by 25 bps to 13.50 percent during its August meeting, the first increase since October last year, and bringing borrowing costs to the highest level since April 2019, amid rising inflation. The country's annual inflation rate accelerated to 8.3 percent in June, the most since October 2021, from 7.5 percent in May and above the upper limit the central bank's target range of 4-8 percent.
