The unemployment rate in Turkey fell to 9.6 percent in August of 2022 from a downwardly revised 10 percent in the previous month, improving for the fifth period to its lowest since March of 2013. The number of unemployed individuals fell by 100 thousand to 3,312 thousand individuals, while the number of employed grew by 366 thousand to 31,014 thousand. Meanwhile, the labor force participation ticked up by 0.4 percentage points to 53 percent. Also, the youth unemployment rate, measuring those aged between 15-24 years old, decreased to 18 percent from the downwardly revised 18.8 percent in the prior period.
